How does College Advising Service find its students and families?
Over 95% of College Advising Service students are referral based. In some cases, entire families, cousins and neighbors have enrolled their children in our programs.

What is the first step in learning about your programs?
The first step is to contact College Advising Service directly by calling/texting (508) 468-5063 or click on the “Contact Tab” to complete the request for more information. An advisor will respond as soon as possible, usually within an hour.

Is there a fee for an initial meeting?
No. Your initial one-hour meeting with a CAS advisor is free. Meetings are conducted at the College Advising Service office, your home or via zoom.

What type of programs are offered by College Advising Service?
– For rising seniors: Comprehensive College Application Program; College Essays and Applications Program; College Essay and Supplemental College Essays Program only; and Digital SAT August Exam Preparation Program.

– For rising juniors: Student academic profile analysis; National Honor Society (NHS) application and essays; College Academic Resume; Senior year course selection; Digital SAT March and June Exam Preparation Programs; Strategy in visiting college campuses; Choosing a College Major Program; and Summer Plan of Action Program.

Does College Advising Service work with both public and private high school students?
Yes. College Advising Service works with numerous diverse private and public high school throughout Massachusetts and New England. In addition, CAS has worked with students in California, Florida, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

What type of student academic profiles does College Advising Service work with?
It is never too early to begin the college search and application process. CAS works with diverse students in grades 7-12; GPA’s ranging from 3.0-5.0 (Private school GPA’s 6.0-10.0); SAT scores ranging from 950-1600; honors program scholars; D1-D3 student athletes; first generation; and legacy students.

Why do colleges offer test-optional admissions?
Test-optional admissions were offered post-pandemic of 2020. Colleges argued that not all students had equal access in taking the SAT or ACT exams. However, in the fall of 2023 and beginning of 2024, many colleges reinstated an entrance exam as part of the college application process. College Advising Service offers a strategic analysis based on the student’s scores and the selectivity of the colleges as whether or not to submit test results.

Does College Advising Service offer Digital SAT Exam Preparation?
Yes, CAS offers junior a four-week exam preparation for the March, May, June and August dates. The classroom is a simulated test site. Contact your CAS advisor to learn which exam date would be best for your student.

What do colleges look for in a college essay?
Admissions is looking to learn more about the applicant beyond their academic profile. College Advising Service offers a strategic writing approach from the admissions perspective to determine which prompt portrays your student in the best light to be accepted. In-depth discussion, brainstorming and numerous drafts are included.

In addition to the college essay, why do colleges also require supplemental college essays?
As the record number of applications being submitted continues to grow year after year, Office of Admissions uses the additional supplemental college essays as means to identify their most qualified acceptances. College Advising Service specifically identifies how to answer each prompt and guides students to writing college acceptance worthy essays.

Before making my decision, I would like to hear from another parent. Does CAS have a parent/student referral process?
Yes, depending on which program you are exploring, CAS would be happy to connect you with a parent or student.

Does College Advising Service offer a tuition payment plan?
Yes. Payment plan options are available for all of our programs.

I am in need of a tutor. Does College Advising Service offer academic tutoring?
Yes. CAS offers an array of subject specific tutors to meet with your student one-on-one. In addition, academic skills like time management, organization, attention to detail, notetaking, follow-up and self-advocacy are also available to all students.

My student is applying to private high schools. Which exam is required? ISEE or SSAT?
Most private schools require an entrance exam as part of the application process. College Advising Service offers ISEE Exam preparation (middle school) and SSAT Exam preparation (high school)

I am currently thinking of transferring colleges. Does College Advising Service assist with the college transfer application process?
Yes, since CAS works with a plethora of colleges, assisting students to transfer to another college is a seamless process.

Does College Advising Service work with students applying to graduate school?
Yes, CAS’s application process expertise includes assisting college juniors with applying to Law School, MBA School and Medical School.
